Our Post-Truth World at H.Clarke Writers.

Statue of Liberty against a clear blue sky, holding a torch. The statue is green and stands prominently on its pedestal.
We know who we are. Who are you?

At H.Clarke Writers we would like to state our position in what is promising to be a challenging post truth world in the next four years ahead.

We stand for open self expression, kindness and compassion. We support creatives of all types that exercise their right to experimental communication that does not incite hate speech, propaganda or extremist ideologies.

Now that we have pleased our PR team, I would like to speak more candidly.

We do not, nor will we ever tolerate the behaviours exhibited by Musk at a recent Trump rally. We will not use our talent, our resources and our limited time to further spread misinformation and dangerous rhetoric. As a private business, we are taking a risk by refusing to sit on the fence. The amazing people I work with are creative, brilliant individuals who I looked towards in stating their position on this matter and I have wholeheartedly followed their lead. If they will be brave then I will follow their example.

I am very proud to say that the team assembled here is one of great integrity and unwavering principles. Watching billionaire losers prance around on their paid by the hour platform made the world feel darker from the solitude of my couch when I opened my phone during breakfast. Then I set to work like I always do and watched as my team continued to bring their talent and ingenuity because that is what they have always done and will continue to do. When you surround yourself with talented and bright people they make men like Musk start to appear very very small.

Pathetic, you might say.

Our mission has always been to use our stories to leave the world a better place than how we found it. We ignored claims of naivete and illusions of political utopias and concentrated on placing one word after another on our pages, resolute in our small acts of staying true to what we promised we would accomplish together.

There are days when that accomplishment looks like taking a consultation with a waived fee. Sometimes it is making a coffee or tea for another team member when we can't find any words to write ourselves. Some days, waking up and showing up is the best we can do. And we will keep doing it, not because we are defiant but because that is who we have always been. That is who we will always be. That is what happens when you work with people who's values cannot be brought via a self induced ketamine psychosis. (Although at H.Clarke Writers we are of the opinion that these men know exactly what they are doing.)

Kindness is always brushed aside as an inconsequential triviality in our world. Not important enough or necessary to keep the world running and at worst a money making hindrance.

I am happy to say that my writers and I can't live without it.

We are not perfect but we will always try. Then again the bar is set so low in the political sphere that egotistical men have decided to play limbo with our morally failing standards. I would like to encourage everyone to work together to raise those standards and to put our differences aside in order to get the important jobs done.

If that is a mission you would like to be a part of then H.Clarke Writers will always be here for you and we will work with you in creating narratives that reflect who we are and the legacy we leave behind.

We should never forget to remind those in power who is holding the pen.
